"My mother received a hand-turned spoon from her grandmother. It was her most prized possession in the kitchen. When I got married, I knew I wanted to start the same tradition. The set I bought from Phyllis Dessoye has that same feeling of quality and love. I know my own daughter will cherish it someday."

Passing It Down: Care & Renewal

An heirloom's life is measured in decades, not years. Our tools are designed to be easily maintained.

A simple guide to re-applying our food-safe wood conditioner to restore luster: Regularly condition your wooden tools every 3-6 months, or as needed, based on frequency of use. Apply a generous amount of our specially formulated wood conditioner using a soft cloth, rubbing it into the grain until absorbed. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then buff off any excess with a clean, dry cloth. This penetrates the wood, protecting it from moisture and preserving its rich patina.
Instructions on how to use very fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any heavy wear before re-oiling: For deeper scratches or signs of heavy wear, gently sand the affected area with 220-grit or higher sandpaper, moving with the grain of the wood. Once smoothed, wipe away any dust and follow the re-oiling instructions. This process removes surface imperfections and prepares the wood to absorb conditioner, allowing it to regain its original beauty.
